Initially this page will contain a basic capture of the conversations had in Levenshulme...
What needs investigating?
- Getting Bob on the publican course.
- Is the pub fucked in interesting ways or not? It's a free house so what sorts of deals can be done re beer?
- Is Avebury Taverns. Tie in on beer, but not wines/spirits/minerals
- What about being a learndirect centre?
- Need to cater for the "middle class businessman" as it were
- Wireless access via DSL?
- Datacentre in the back room?
- Keep the snug. Bluetooth ordering?
- Reasonable but not over-the-top food (standard pub food)
- Free beer if you pass your course. (just one pint)
- Do we need to carry eurofizz or can we get away with budvar etc?
- Ed prepared to invest somewhat in the venture.
- Would need to get doors replaced with victorian glass ones to open it up to more lighting
- Good Coffee
- Good Malts
Money
- Princes Trust grants to startup in a deprived area - [Prince's Trust]
- Learndirect grants for being a Learndirect centre?
- Learndirect grants for learning to be a publican?
- How much investment is required to get the learndirect bit going? Will it be possible to get that started while doing up the pub end of things?
- What about grants other than Princes Trust?
- EU Social fund money for deprived area? [Gov't ESF site]
Who?
- Who owns the building, are there any restrictive covenants on it.
- What will the insurance be like?
- Who would run it? Initially Daniel would have to continue working in Cambridgeshire until the house there was done up enough that he could rent it out.
[Avebury Taverns] Lease building (27k.p.a) [Fleurets] lease it. Talk with them.
Renting out the Cambridgeshire house?
- Flooring down in Kitchen
- Redo carpets
- Redo internal and external doors
- Double glazing.
- Refit storage heaters
- How much will all this cost? (Probably 10k in total, can be done in stages, can't rent the place out until it is all done)
- Where will Lizzy live? Most likely move her to Manchester as soon as the pub appartment becomes sensibly livable-in.
